Setting Training Series
1:00-3:00 pm FULL - 4:00-6:00 pm FULL
The setting position is the most specialized one in volleyball. The setter is far more than a player being able to put a ball up in the air accurately for a hitter to attack. All players must be able to hit, handle the ball, serve, and block (other than the Libero.) An accomplished setter has to have skills in three areas besides those that other players must have.
A setter must be effective in the following areas:
-
Technical. Be able to set the ball consistently, under all conditions.
-
Tactical. Be able to make the right choices in all situations.
-
Leadership. Be able to lead; to effectively communicate; to elevate the play of teammates.
The Setter Training Series will focus on the necessary technical and tactical skills to be an outstanding setter. It will be intense. Set-by-set analysis of matches played; video analysis; making choices by rotation and situation; dealing with and leading the team in various conditions; plus many other elements as noted below.
-
The Series will be limited to 10 players
-
There will be 6 sessions throughout February, March, April and May
-
Each session will be 2 hours in length
-
Specific setting technical skills, situation recognition and appropriate choices, and leadership will be covered
-
The players must be committed to doing assigned "homework" and study besides assigned training tasks
